I think I need the lock mechanism for the glove box on my '47 ford. The door latch will not catch in the mechanism. Since it won't latch, the door will not stay closed. The key for the mechanism goes in and turns okay, but still will not catch the latch for some reason. Anybody know where I could get a replacement mechanism or have any suggestions?

Have you tried to adjust the "latch" on the inside top of the opening of the glove box? The latch should have some movement for adjustment.

Bob Drake has them in stock. First I would agree with Vic and check the upper latch keeper. It's attached with two small screws and sometimes they loosen up and get pushed back towards the cowl preventing the lock from engaging.

I will try that! I didn't know they could be adjusted. I bet that is all it needs because I can't see anything wrong. Thanks to the both of you.

Hi, No specific help, but I set my camera on timer and macro, and set it into the glove box, and let it take pix of the way the lock was (not) working. Just an idea.
