Re: shipping cost rear spring help
I would think greyhound
because of the weight, wont be that cheap and CL might be a better alternative. |

Re: shipping cost rear spring help
Check with Fastenal - not a store. Call their 800 number (don't have it handy) and they will set it up. The stores don't seem to like setting it up but are very help full when that is done.

Re: shipping cost rear spring help
My Fastenal here in NJ is horrible- they dont want to be bothered, even when it is all set up at corporate.
Most guys on here seem to have better luck at their locations............ and I havent found them to be that inexpensive either. you can plastic wrap the spring for greyhound and it goes right on the bus- no pallets, boxes etc. |

Re: shipping cost rear spring help
I have shipped rear springs with UPS. I just have them put the lable on the bare spring. I do not remember what it costs, but didnt seem too bad.
That is the way “A Springs” ships. John |

Re: shipping cost rear spring help
Send him a check for what it would cost to ship it, and let him find one in Reno. There are lots of springs out there.

I use fedex because of size and weight. I can ship a axle from IL to Cali for 45 bucks.

Re: shipping cost rear spring help
MY EXPERIENCE...I used FedEx Ground a few years ago to get a rear spring from LA to NC.
They traced it as far as OH and it went off the radar, never to be heard from again; I would think a Model A rear spring would be pretty identifiable, but I guess not, even with labels all over it. Fastenal has been very reliable and reasonably priced. I had a small issue with a mid-west Fastenal operator, but when contacted by their regional office, they suddenly became very cooperative and everything went well from that point on. I have used Fastenal probably 10 times since then with no problems, they are good shippers. |

Re: shipping cost rear spring help
When we get the new springs from the guy on the east coast they come UPS. Just wrapped and label on them, no issues. Don't know cost but you can look it up on UPS web site. Just type in the info and should give you a ball park.

Re: shipping cost rear spring help
Hey C,
I ship a lot, all the ways mentioned and even the Post Office. You will be lucky if it's $50, but probably more like $75. Good luck.

Re: shipping cost rear spring help
Call your local Greyhound Bus station and ask the cost to send it to him. He will have to know when it is arriving. I believe the weight limit is 75lbs. for greyhound.
I've sent lots of parts that way...and it's quicker... although it has been a few years ago now. Try it... |
