First day back after engine freshen up
We have had the eng out of our dragster for a year ,just to freshen it up ,but life got in the way,
So a couple of months back refitted the engine after pour son fitted new pistons ,bearings and gaskets,( his fist time building a flathead) Did one start at home then took it to the strip on Saturday. We did three practice runs were it seemed to miss a gear coming off the line, We thought that we were banging the shift lever, after a bit of trying we find that the trans is slipping out of 1st gear off the line, checked the oil level ,it wasn't even on the stick ,so added fluid up to the full mark. result was for the first time we can run consistently on our dial in, dialed in at 9.40 and ran 9.405, next run dialled in 9.4 ran 9.400 for a perfect light and into the finals, In the final we ran 9.405 on the 9.400 dial in at 141.3 mph, crossing the finish line at 6400 rpm for the win. We have a crower roller cam in the engine and it still looks like brand new. We thought we would have a couple of lazy cylinders as the reason for the freshen up was me letting it sit in the trailer for 4 months with the water still in and two cylinder had water in them . But they seemed OK as the difference in EGT from the hottest to coldest was only 35 deg. A great day out. The dragster is back in the trailer now after oil and filter change ,defueling, and drained coolant, Lawrie |

Sounds like fun. Do you run on alky? Do you flush and restart with gasoline? How about posting a video so we can smell the burning rubber?

Glad hear it’s running like a top. Yes, video please!
