As above, get Vern Tardel's, it will give you a good idea of weather you want to tackle
the job or not. The worst part of the whole thing is dealing with the steering box.
Everything else is pretty straight forward.

That said, no modified flathead is cheap to build. Do it right once.

To your point though, more power, more problems or things that need to be changed to handle the power.

While a bit OT, to illustrate the more power... more problems...
A kid (in high school) across the street had a Vega, which he decided did not have enough power. Finding a "bolt on" kit for a SB Chevy he found a Chevy V8 and mated the two together. First trip out the driveway, heavy on the throttle, twisted drive line. A week later, with a heavy duty drive line, he blew the rear end up. With a new heavy duty rear end the transmission lasted less than a month. With a bigger transmission the car ran great for a week... Until the car got totaled when he rear ended a truck because of not enough brakes.

Sounds like the whole project could have been flawed because of
lack of IQ.... LOL.

Looks like it has more wheelbase with the spring in front of the rear axle. Might work with a pickup. Otherwise the body would have to move back a good bit.

Haha. For a HS kid, could also be due to a lack of money...

if all one is doing is looking for hp- then yes the banger is the cheapest way to go

but nobody can argue a flathead is out and out sexier to look at then a tractor motor................
