Default 1931 Ford A400

I just acquired a 1931 Ford A400. The body # is 4884. Ford archives indicates they were manufactured in the US through body #4864 then 85 units in Canada and 123 overseas. We are curious to know where our car was manufactured at. Can anyone assist us in getting to the bottom of this?

any nuances as to your car being a Canadian build?

Brooks head screws, right hand drive at any given point? (cutout in firewall?) Paint color?

etc etc.

You'll want to get in touch with Joop, he is a member of this page. He maintains the 400A registry and is incredibly knowledgeable about them. He probably has a body number roster that can help you out.

Do you have the original body tag in the firewall?
It should have a printed “400A” and then a stamped number.
Without a body number or other pedigree it’ll be hard to trace much.
Who’s was it before you purchased it? That can help too. There’s quite a registry on those.

The highest number on the A400 registry is 5016. There are seven cars with higher numbers than yours. You should join the A400 Group, there is a lot of good information there.

Don't know what you mean by Brooks head screws, Canadian built cars used Robertson screws (square recess).
