Default salvaging F-1 6 cylinder parts

A friend is rodding a 49 F-1 pickup with a flathead 6. He's going the Mustang II front suspension route, so all the front suspension/brakes will be available. Are the steering box and brakes the same on the 6 as the 8? It also has the original floorshift box. Is there a difference in transmissions or bolt patterns? If so, are the internals interchangeable since I have a couple of floorshift boxes.

The motor was locked the last time I stopped by his shop. He was working on freeing it up, but my experience says it's going to have to be disassembled. Either way, I'm sure it can be had very reasonably. Let me know if anyone is interested. It's in SE Georgia. I'm sure it can be had "very reasonably."

Steering box and brakes are good hotrod fodder. Not sure on the trans, but like you say, the internals might swap out even if the bellhousing pattern is different. If the wheels are the old stocker steels, they are worth saving too.

Mart.

I believe the bellhousing on the trans is shapped a little diffreant and won't fit the V8. The gears will fit the V8 trans. Walt

I have a 6, and I thought the transmissions were same as V8 but it does take a different bell housing.
