Re: Original vs Repo Light Switch
Ok here are a couple close ups. I held the spring down with my HF plastic trim tool
The ends of the metal retaining tab are slightly bent plus they have little wings as shown.. I hope this helps. If your wings are broken off maybe distorting the metal by squeezing it with a needle nose vice grip may work... ( just a thought ) |

Re: Original vs Repo Light Switch
Thanks for the photos Mitch. The tabs I'm interested in are the three on the brass ring. Yours look like they have been square punched. The holes would have to be widened and the ring glued on I guess. My tabs are just hanging on.
PS. I've ordered similar plastic tools from Hong Kong. Thanks for the tip. |

Re: Original vs Repo Light Switch
Sorry for the misunderstanding. The brass tabs are pictured pretty good anyways...post your solution when you figure it out

Re: Original vs Repo Light Switch
I'm hoping the supplier will come good with a replacement ... but I'm not holding my breath as postage is about the same as it is worth.

this topic appears here regularly as clockwork, understandably so. I hope we all live long enough to see a faithful reproduction appear.
If I'm not around to see it, I've asked Forever4 to toss one on my grave. |

Re: Original vs Repo Light Switch
I had a repo switch assy that had no feel in the detents as a result the contacts were intermittant. I also had an original but unuseable switch. Measuring between the two I found the repo had .060" less engagement than the original. The tabs in the photo, post #21, are too short and don't allow the ring to touch the detents with enough force.
I solved the problem by taking the brass ring with the three bumps from the original (a repo would work) and with some fitting laid it on the repo brass ring with little contact force and soldered it in place. Now I have good detents and good electrical contact. Bill G Last edited by Bill Goddard; 05-08-2016 at 04:43 PM. Reason: The tabs in the photo.............enough force |

Sounds to me like you might have hit the nail on the head there from the various complaints. Thanks for letting us know.
