Default me again did i do somthing stupid here

I put a fused 30 amp between wire from ignition switch to distributor

seemed like a good idea now not so sure.

will try start motor on mothers day when I have my kids as an audience.
motor not run for MANY YEARS.

Most install the fuse that mounts on the starter available from all the vendors protecting more. Why wait to start it, less embaressing if you try now especially if it hasn't been run in years. JMO

30 amp fuse between ignition switch and distributor is not good. The coil is relying on that path to ground through the points and condenser. Interrupting that path while the motor is running is a bad idea.

If you want to fuse your ignition, install the fuse in that short wire between the junction box and the coil.

Oh, and 10 amps is plenty of fuse for the ignition.

its now fused and wires soldered, I will use tin foil around the
fuse to make direct connection, it is located drivers side firewall.

my idea was to make a quick disconnect between the circuit.

Yes, that is what the ignition switch does. However, one does not typically shut off the ignition while the engine is running at speed, correct? That's how one is suddelty faced with the task of replacing mufflers, exhaust manifold gaskets, etc.

The real kicker to this odd fuse placement is the additional resistance created in the contacts between wire, fuse, wire ends, etc. That is a ground for the coil, and should have the least resistance possible. Every ohm of resistance in that wire translates to a much weaker spark to the plugs.

No, but it's certainly possible for the fuse to fail while the engine is running at speed, thus creating a possible scenario where the coil is charged then discharges through the electrical system (because there is no ground path), and causing all sorts of grief.

If fusing the ignition system, it's far better to fuse it between the battery and the coil than between the coil and its anticipated ground path.

I would remove it. People wonder why cars start so easy when using the hand crank. Part of the reason is you are pulling the full amps from the battery through the points. Super hot spark...
