Default Model B main cap and oil leak

This is also posted at the early V8 forum.

Several months ago I posted all the drama trying to fix a rear main oil leak on my 33 model B sedan. Problem still not resolved, now on m 4th attempt to fix it. Several of you provided advice on how to deal with this. Most believed problem originated on a poor Babbitt job and now I am showing what I did following advice from Barners.

This post deals with the rear main cap and main bearing which is one of the problems. First 2 photos show the main cap and the main bearing as done initially (and leaked badly). The other photos are the current ones after my home made modifications:

1) I cut the missing groove,
2) Added an extension to the existing groove so it will reach the front end of the cap and
3) I created the oil well in both the main cap and the main bearing, which was missing.

The theory is that the deficient main cap oil groove forced a lot more oil back into the rear seal area. Hopefully with the changes just made it will drain some forward and will not flood the rear seal. How helpful do you think these changes could be? There are several other adjustments being made which I will post separately. And I know the grooves can be cut a lot better but I have no access to real professionals, so this is my only option. Hope to get some insight from fellow Ford Barners. Manuel

Make sure the oil drain passageway is clear and drain tube is installed.
