A Model T block that still needs major machine work done to it for $9000 is way out of my budget.

$9,000... Seems a tad high... A new running engine (new block, new head, etc. should be $6,000 or less..

I feel as though you could get a complete (in rough shape) running car for that....

There is a really nice T on Craigslist right now for 9000.00. That's a ton of money for a partially machined block. Wow.

I was unimpressed with the price also, but impressed with the product.
I was wondering about the comment regarding the model A guy not following up on the casting source.
Has that guy given up or gone in another direction casting wise?

It is a five main block not a stock three main. You guys are trying to compare apples to oranges.

It is going in a Model T, not a Packard. For its purpose it is tremendously over priced! I am still not impressed. Wayne

It is just a T engine.

Finish it on a belt sander and your drill press in no time.

I'd guess a hefty proportion of that $9k is the custom Crower crank and rods....

I would suggest to stick it in an $8000 dollars car is a total waste of money. I have a totally rebuilt roadster that I would be lucky to get that much for. It's like putting a $500 dollar horn on a $100 bicycle. Wayne

Just wondering is this 9K T block has Winfields 2 up/ 2down crank
Also, wondering if anyone here knows Schubert, as he may have a lead for us (A/B guys) to obtain 5 main full B cranks somewhat reasonable
Nice looking 'near finished' product, indeed.

Rick,
this arrangement does not need the Winfield two up-two down assembly.
It has 4 intake ports.

$9k, that's about right for assembly with Crower crank and rods

$2000.00 for the raw unmachined block sound good

I've seen this already, and all I will not comment on the other block effort. I have already discussed it with Terry.

I guess there must be a huge outlay in pattern and test casting costs even before a block is ready for sale.
I figure there would be an economy of scale with casting but how many blocks would any one want to stock up on without knowing who would be willing to make a purchase commitment...

With us both owning steam cars, I have personally known Les Schubert for about 15 years or so. Les has been working on this 5 main T engine idea of his on and off all of this time that I have known him. Before retiring, Les and his brother were into building large commercial electrical generating plants. They eventually sold out their "commercial power plant" business to a larger corporation and they have been enjoying life ever since. Les has the contacts and the know how in this interesting field of work. I wish him the best.
