Default Battery Cutoff Switch in 29 Model A

Installed "battery cutoff" switch cuts off A starter button but not engine when running. This is not wired correctly, correct?

Uploaded image of type switch.

Not wired correctly. Switch is typically put in the frame to battery post cable/connection, or in the other cable coming out of the battery. Can not be more detailed, do not know if you are running positive ground or negative ground.

It should be in the ground cable irregardless of whether it's positive or negative ground.

If the engine is running the ignition will be fed by the generator. To defeat that you would need to feed the ignition through a relay that opens when the disconnect is opened.

Thats why I will run this FIA approved cutoff switch:
https://www.pedersenracing.no/butikk...ombryterpakke/

This Will cut my coil from it's power source and give my alternator some resistance to work against until it comes to a stop.

This is a kill switch designed to simultaneously disconnect battery and coil in case of emergency. Appropriate on a racetrack, I suppose.

Learned something new, when using a kill switch on a running A the gen will keep the motor running.

Not a good idea. Kill the engine, then open disconnect. With engine running you wont get regulation from the battery, if you increase RPM voltage will go very high. Tough on bulbs etc.
