Default Re: Has anyone used real wood veneer on steel?

cabinet grade spray contact cement is the way to go. I use 50 to 100 4x8's of this paper back wood veneer in my boat building business each year. It wont bend two directions at once! A friend once brought a 32 ford roadster dash to me he also brought a sheet of walnut burl veneer to glue on as an insert this veneer didnt have any backing, we dampened it multiple times and put sandbags on it for weight eventually it took the shape of the dash we didnt vacuum this down because this process took a couple of weeks.when we were happy with the contour of the veneer we epoxied it on, a little vacuum help at this time! tedious work to say the least. If the dash is flat use the contact cement that is what it is designed for! 1
