Hello........is there a supplier that has new/used timing gear covers......the chrome one on Clyde has a hub that is way to small to fit the Generator.

Thanks in advance

I wonder if somebody cut the cover back so the belt would line up because the first picture you posted of your generator looks like the pulley is to far forward.
I measured a cover and the generator mount is just a hair under 2" wide.

You could add a spacer or thick washers.

Yeah it had a 3/8" thick hand made aluminium square spacer......I want to put it back to the original way it should be (done right), ever since tuning Clyde up he doesn't seem to run as smooth as hes supposed to ( I think), so im thinking the timing marks may not be lined up correctly as well.....i am tossing around the idea of getting a Snyders HC head, and the correct water pump and timing cover, and then see if the pulleys line up, some one really rushed this together!!!!!!!, id show the wiring harness in the front but am to embarrassed.

Are you sure that the cover is not polished aluminum ?

Well I finally took the timing cover off, it does not look like a model A cover. The timing hole is in a elongated hub and the timing hole is at the top of the hub, when I lay the new/old timing cover from Berts on the mystery cover the timing marks do not line up at all....nowhere near each other. And the hub for the generator is obviously smaller (See Pics). Since I have the timing cover off I thought I would check the timing marks on the cam and crank gear and make sure they line up.
Welllllll !!!!! the cam gear has the dimple in it but, for the life of me i cannot find the dimple on the crank gear there is one tooth that has 2 small center punch marks in it, but it never lines up with the dimple in the cam gear (I rotated the engine over I bet 6 times) and yes it ran before see video(video is to big and wont load sorry). In all of my readings, in the Red book by Les and the service bulletins and judging standards......it’s all running together now, I thought I read somewhere that the crank timing mark should be the first tooth to the right of the key way?????? Is this correct???????? If so then the marks are good. The crank gear has some sort of lipped washer or something on the face of it so I cannot see anything that may be on the face of it.

Thanks again for all your help

I wonder if the timing cover has been modified for some reason? The Model A and Model B generators are the same mount.

Don't worry about the cover lining up when you set the crank gear and cam gear timing marks. BTW your B cover shown will set the timing at 9 or 10 degree advance, so now is the time to install the correct A cover.
Once these 2 are clocked correctly, you install the cover and set the distributor timing by the pin in the cam gear dimple.

Here's a picture of the gears in mesh.

Ill get a pic of the timing marks there is no mark on the crank gear that lines up with the mark on the cam gear dimple.....there are 2 small center punch holes on one crank tooth but its no where near the key way and never lines up with the cam dimple (in at least 6 engine revolutions).
