Brass tool tags
Can someone explane the coding on Ford triangle brass tags. I see them alot and understand the Rouge and Highland Park thing but what about the letter preceding the number. I kind of want to start a collection.

Re: Brass tool tags
The letter before the number denotes the department worked in , ie: A= motor building, D= gear & axle, L= stamping plant, M= foundry, R= sheet mill,Z=frame plant, etc.

Re: Brass tool tags
If you ever get up to the Model A Museum at the Gilmore, there is a collection of hundreds of these tags in a frame. It is hanging in the south east corner of the building.
