We buy a lot from Fastenal, they carry more than you would think, also if they don't have what you need, they will find it. only problem with special orders is extra charges,

These aren't Fastenall pins, but this is what I did to make it super easy to find the correct pin:

CarlG,

I grabbed a few cotter pin at my local Lowes today... Gee some like 25 cents each ugh. So my idea is once my order arrives from fastenal.com is to copy your box... Yes, that's a complement on your fine cotter pin box!

I got the boxes at WalMart in the sporting goods department for around $5. I ordered the cotter pins from a commercial supplier, one that had all the correct sizes (Ford used a lot of in-between sizes), made the cover and chart on my computer using Word and Excel, then laminated them. I made up 10 sets, sold some, gave some away, and I think I have a couple left for who knows what.

I liked the boxes so well that I got about a dozen more and use them for all the other fasteners and electrical goodies. Cleaned up my work space really great!

Did you save the cover and the size breakout? I have the boxes like you have but want to make one up for a door prize.

They make good door prises, I've given a couple away that way.

Here's a PDF of both the front and back:

Cut them to about 10-1/2 x 6-1/4.
The box it fits is a Flambeau 4007
WalMart Sporting Goods Dept has the best price ~$5

The "MS" part numbers are there just in case you try getting the pins at an Aircraft Supply/Parts store.

Carl,
Great idea! I have a two car gargage that seems to have every nook and cranny filled (yet I keep buying stuff??) Anyway this is a great way to store the pins and have them "at the ready". Thank you so much for posting the pics and the templates for the inserts!

I noticed that they are all MS spec pins, specifically MS24665. The number after the dash is the size. With that info, you could also get them from an aviation supply, depending on who is cheaper.
