'54 Ford Lower Control Arm Washer
Finally getting back on the lower control arm rebush I started on my '54 Ranch Wagon before all this virus crap. The guy helping me is high risk so we waited until now to begin again. Unfortunately I suffer from CRS and I either misplaced the 3054 square washers or the ones I took off were round. I do have 2 round washers on the 3057 through bolts. I don't know if they were installed where the square ones should be or ? Does anyone know if the square washers were ever round? Or that maybe the square washers were replaced with round ones by someone over the years? If they should be square does anyone know how thick they were so I can fab some replacements? I'm assuming that finding originals is not going to happen. Thanks.

Re: '54 Ford Lower Control Arm Washer
I believe the '54 frame is the same as the '55 & '56 and that the '53 and earlier used the '49 frame.
So, if '54 and '55 are the same, you should have a large pin that goes thru the front frame crossmember. There is a large round flat-washer with one side cut-off straight so that it will fit under the top lip of the crossmember. There is also a large round sleeve that protects the lower front control arm bushing. That sleeve rests against the large round washer. Once all those parts are in place and the pin is driven thru the frame crossmember, you have another large washer, lock-washer and nut that screws into the threads of the pin holding the control arm bushing in place. |

Re: '54 Ford Lower Control Arm Washer
I don't know if they still sell it, but Obsolete & Classic Parts used to sell a kit #B6A-3048 that has all the replacement parts for both front lower control arm bushing replacement. Kit includes (2) new pins with associated nut, lock-washer and large round washer, (2) lower front control arm bushings, and (2) large round washer with big holes. Those washers rest against back of frame crossmember. They do not include the steel sleeve I spoke of previously. Apparently you re-use your old ones.
