Default Rodent Control

I got home yesterday and after several sub freezing days decided I absolutely had to winterize the Coupe.

I have been too busy to do this before now, and to be honest could not remember if I had antifreeze or plain water in the cooling system (turns out I never changed out the antifreeze from last winter.)

I started the car, and it fired right up, ran a bit rough and required nearly two full turns open on the GAV. After it warmed up, it smoothed out nicely and I was able to close down the GAV to about 1/8th open.

I added some Marvel Mystery Oil to the gas and let the car run until I could see the pinkish color in the fuel bulb.

While the car sat idling, I put the manifold heater on (you never know when a ride is possible!). As I was standing on passenger side, I started to rev the engine at the carb - not too hard, just enough to get the speed up.

I heard a most interesting sound from the exhaust - it was like a blurble sound, "blurb a blurb a blurb a." So I ran up the engine again and it changed into a slightly up pitched "blurb a blurb a blurb a blurb." - followed by a "fluhmmm" sound.

That's when I saw the airborne mouse hit the side of the Jeep parked behind the Coupe and watched as it fell to the ground dead.

As part of my 'normal' winter storage routine, I usually put a wad of coarse steel wool in the end of the tail pipe.

Needless to say, it's in there now.

Happy motoring and stay warm.

Have a blessed and safe Thanksgiving.

Just read where the "No Animals were hurt" statement you see in movie credits and TV shows is meaningless, since the onsite observers from the Humane Society seem to be subject to influence by "gifts".

So, I guess it's OK for you to say that "No animals were hurt during the operation of my Coupe."

I should send my wife over - we live in the country and she's Hell on mice - one year got 29 over the fall/winter months. Better than a cat in so many ways…

We live in the woods and rodents are sometimes a problem. My sweetness, Peppermint Patti, is also HELL on rodents. I was going to post a picture of her most recent kill but after reading I think I had better be carefull

29er,
Did you also notify ASPCA? I am sure they would like to know as well as PETA. I hope Mike's punishment to to severe for harming the rodent.

huddy -

My daughter's ex - mother-in-law has your wife beaten by a mile -

A few years ago she caught over 75 mice in her Have-a-Heart trap.
When she caught them she gave them a "stern talking to" just before releasing them just outside the sliding glass door on the rear deck.
She knows that they listened to her but the others that did not hear her continued to come.

Real story --

Well, Purdy, I'll have Buster T. all set with the camera when a CAGED Model A Huckster shows up, with "MAN-CATCHER" tastefully lettered on the door (At least, I won't have to COOK!)
In the 60's, my friend, Phil, was caught by the Factory Rep, as he wuz adjusting the door on a ROLLS-ROYCE, with a 2 X 4 They ALMOST sent him back to England, to be IMPRISONED

Sounds like the elderly lady that asked the Troopers to move the "Deer Crossing" sign because so many were getting killed in that spot, they should try somewhere with less traffic..

A friend of mine had the same issue with his Harley, so he cranked on the throttle, out came nest, then mouse. Sucker hit the wall head first, never laughed so hard in my life.
Sure ruined that mouses's day.

It's probably the same mouse that keeps coming back. You have to kill the @*$&*# rodents. They are disease carrying destructive rodents that deserve no special treatment. Traps and cats work great.

It has been proven that a Rat Terrier is 15 to 20 times as effective as the average CAT!
Search, "RAT TERRIER HISTORY", you'll be AMAZED!
A trap is, "SO,SO", unless you have a remote controlled trap that RUNS AROUND, "LOOKING" for them NASTY DEVILS!!!! Bill W.
