Default Tillison F1b Carb

Going to try and post a picture of the middle gasket
on a Tillison carb. This is the F1B model that I can no longer get parts for.
If anyone has a gasket or knowes where to get one ( I've tried the usual
suppliers) I would appreciate it.

Probably a oddball suggestion, but if, as a last resort, you could get a replica of it with a copy machine, spray a little adhesive, the kind that allows "repositioning" for easy removal, stick it to a sheet of gasket material and cut out your own with an x-acto knife. I'm an old hand draftsman and I would offer my services to you, if you so choose. Make the copy and mail it to me, along with a sheet of the gasket material. No charge, my pleasure. [email protected]

A process such as suggested by RcT would be made easier by having on hand a set of punches suitable for making the small holes in the gasket. I have a set of leather punch tools that are perfect for the task. I use a small ball pean hammer to outline/partially cut the larger edges and to indicate where the small holes are located. Place the gasket material over one half of the carburetor and lightly tap with the ball end of the hammer head all around both inside and outside edges. Works very well and can produce almost any gasket in just a few minutes.

I have rebuilt 5 F1B's and had to make my own gaskets. There are no parts or gaskets for these carburetors. I have some extra carb housings and parts for the F1Bs as it took several carbs to complete the 5. Would be glad to share these parts with you if you have a need.

Someone called me either yesterday or the day before wanting one of those gaskets too. I suggested to that person (maybe you) to make the gasket using a small mallet, a knife, and a hole punch set.

If you feel like there is a market for this gasket, have the gasket accurately drawn up in SolidWorks and then have someone water-jet out a small run of them to have extras to sell.

I've found that a thin layer of oil or grease on the bowl lip will leave a nice outline on the gasket material to be cut. Of course you can use a pencil to trace the outside line.

I don't use a hammer to cut the gasket on something like an aluminum or potmetal carb, but have used a hammer to cut gaskets on a cast iron tranny or engine block, etc.
