Default Radio

I’m looking for a vintage cowl mount radio antenna to install on my 39 Pickup. Also, could someone give me information about exactly where on the right cowl the holes are to be cut. Let me know if you have a good useable antenna. I really don’t want to use a repop. Thanks

Side mount antennas were used a lot for accessory use back in the day. What Ford dealers may have installed would be a guess for me. Maybe someone else on here or the EFV8 club forum might have an idea. Flea-pay has a lot of vintage side mount antennas but folks are asking some pretty high coin for some of them.

GB put one the jail bar woodie and posted photos. Seems to me that one like that would look good on your p/u. Check on some of the VW sites, the bus guys use similar ones.

I've got one on my '48 F-1. Looks like it belongs there!

Generally speaking, the majority of the radios and other accessories in the '30-50 vehicles were dealer installed, I worked in a Ford garage in the late '40's, early '50's in new car prep.
Side mount antenna's are pretty generic, there are a lot of them for sale on eBay.. I would suggest typing in Vintage auto antenna's...

Thanks to everyone. I have been all over eBay looking. All I find are repops and I would prefer an old one that matches my truck. Hopefully, there is one out there somewhere.
