Default Chevy rear main seal modification

I haven't been on for quite a while. Can someone give me the basics on installing a Chevy rear main seal in a Model A?

I have a full pressure engine and the Burtz seal doesn't seem to get the job done.

Richard if you have already machined the crank for the burtz seal you already under size for the chevy seal and the chevy seal is generally used in B models due to the seal size

I have used it before. You have to build up the crank with weld, then machine it to chev size. You also need to make a adapter to hold the seal. Not a small job.
The good thing is they work great.

George,
You did mean you have used them on a Model A?
Did you keep the thrust on the rear main or did you move it forward to the front journal?
Any photos?
Thanks,
Good Day!

Yes it was a Model A. It was on my hill climb car with a 4 port intake engine. No longer have that car. I had pictures but the computer crashed, lost every thing.

Thanks guys.

I will probably keep the burtz seal on the A engine but am starting a build on a B engine with 4 port.

I understand the larger diameter for the Chev seal. Do you have to do something to the block? Any pict's of "adapter"?

yes for a B motor machining is required.
Dan McEachern makes a good adapter and it comes with complete directions. You may want to contact him first
when you get ready to assemble everything use Toyota # 103 FIPG (formed in place gasket) sealant it is way better than Permatex Ultra Black. Toyota uses no precut gaskets in certain applications and this stuff is indestructable. Gotta work quickly tho
You end up using a chevy 350 rear main seal as you know
