Default Re: OPTIMA battery charger... purchase advice?

I have used the "Battery Tender" for years. My Optima is now 7 years old and still cranks well in my '47. Only problem is locating a new Optima. I have one (6 volt RedTop) on order for a month and counting. They are hard to beat, and for a $250 battery they should!

Mike, have you zeroed in on a charger for your Optima? Looks like the responses to your question are all over the map!!

Yes, actually have one and it appears to be working as it should. I went with a Noco Genius, 1 amp.
Optima advises a very slow charging rate, under 1.5 amps.
This battery is connected to my newly installed home generator. As such, the "tender" will be hooked up 24/7.

Mike
IF it helps at all, I have a NORCO Genius 10 (???) I have had an a wet cell 6V in the 32 for over a year now, great charger AND I did have to use it to recharge my 6V Red Top Optima once, worked fantastic. I also bought a few of NAPA's 1.5V chargers and two 3.0V chargers they run on sale, both switchable from 6V to 12V and they work well on my wet cell's BUT I have not used it on my Optima. It seem to me NAPA runs them on sale for like $20ish for the 1.5 and $28ish for the 3.0. Good luck

Guys, my day was a wonderful one! A reminder that there are truly good folk "out there". I'd received a battery tender in the mail this afternoon from a fellow Barn member.
The gift, unexpected, was wonderful. However, the thoughtfulness was the best part by far.
Yep, my day was wonderful

Thank you, M. E.

I've been using the Deltran battery tenders for years, I've got an optima I put in the car in 2009 still going, but even regular batteries seem to last when they are always on a maintainer.
