Default 35/6--maybe later luggage rack

Hi all.

Need a little help. I picked up a luggage rack for my 36 a little while back. I had everything powder coated and I'm trying to get it on the car. Can anyone's provide clear and up close assembly pics or perhaps even a copy of the directions from one of the aftermarket kits. I.e. where do the shoulder nuts go. Top or bottom holes. How to yhe swing arms mount etc.

I will qualify I'm happy to see 37-40 stuff too. I suspect that my kit may be for a later model based on how the main brackets fit so I may have to do some fabrication/modifications which I'm cool with. The tray and most of the hardware is right. I just need to know how to put it all together.

Thanks in advance

sorry for the delay. Can't post pics from my phone.

The main support bracket look like they're supposed to mount at the bumper brace mounts but only one of the holes lines up. I don't mind to add a piece of steel in to fix this part as long as i can get the rest of it looking visually passably correct and functional.

Thanks

Here's a sketch I made a while ago showing fasteners on the luggage rack. Hope it helps.

I have been looking at luggage racks recently and what I have noticed is 34,35,and 36 all appear to use the same rack and trim. The difference looks to be in mounting brackets , i.e. 34 vs 35-36 ?

I don't believe that the 48-18575 rack was used in 1934 or it would have a 40 prefix. There is a small difference between the 35 and 36 rack. The rack was reinforced in 1936 and a support clamp was added, See images.

I agree with you in part, and that is.... a 35-36 rack can be used on a 34 with some modifications to 35-36 brackets, or brackets that are made special for this application.
I have a '35 coupe that had a very nice 37 luggage rack mounted by making special hardware and using stock 35/36 brackets that allowed for use of a wider 37 rack.

It's interesting how many small differences there are from year to year. Over the weekend a friend and I were also comparing 32 vs 33 racks and while quite similar the mounting holes on the rack were in different positions. Obviously, the mounting brackets were quite different.

Here's a summary of racks and brackets that I made up a few years back. Engineering releases never indicate that the racks or brackets were to be used on coupes, roadsters or cabriolets!!!!

I have a late 34 car, as we all know the build number was stamped on the transmission when it was bolted to the engine. at some time later it was placed in a chassis and down the line it went and out to a dealer some place to sit on the floor till sold. How much time be four a customer walk's in and buy's it. And after the owner drives it decides it needs a LUGGAGE RACK. Back to the dealer to have one installed. What does he get.the 35 are coming out does he a 35 rack with 34 brackets or ?

in case anyone wants an update. it turns out I have 33/34 brackets on the shared 35/36 rack. if anyone needs a freshly powder coated rack it's up for sale now.
