painting running board aprons.

When the weather breaks I'm thinking about painting the fenders and running board aprons. Other than removing the fenders, running boards, taking up the floor, disconnecting the steering column, to raise the body up to get the aprons out, what if anything do I have to do to paint the black parts? Do I really need to remove the aprons to paint them? And, is there a paint code for the black parts? Any thoughts?

Dupont 9300 is the good paint

Chuck Kallas, my other "Son", cherried up Minervas' fenders, masked everything carefully, even cocooned the engine compartment & painted FENDERS/RUNNING BOARD SHIELDS/RADIATOR SPLASH SHIELD. He used synthetic enamel, with a hardener & after 3 days in the sun, he cut & polished them, along with the old 1996 BLACK Lacquer body paint.
Came out BEAUTIFUL! looked like a HIGH $$$$$$$ new paint job! Absolutely NO OVERSPRAY!

Wet sanding with 2,000 or 3,000 Grit, WET or DRY sandpaper, then Polish & Wax.----SORRY I was so long in answering, the Dog & I spent the afternoon waitin' at the front door, fer FED-X to bring his premium Dog Food!

I am unaware that DuPont manufactures a 9300 Black. I would imagine that Mark intended to say PPG's DCC9300.

"Cut"....coarse compound prior to polish or buff. We use to just call it "rubbing it out"

I refinished mine on the car before I installed the front fender and running boards. They came out fine.
