That's not 'stamped'-in. That is 'cast'-in at time of manufacture. Bill Boomer noted that if the crank was "marked with EAC, 1CM or 0CM, it should be a Merc crank". Click the link below! DD

On the Barn I hear guys saying These flathead V8s are getting so hard to find anymore . Then when someone has one to sell it is not worth anything . So there goes another one to the scrap heap . Are we trying to save the V8 flathead or not. Make an offer and take a chance. By the way this is not my engine. Please excuse my rant. Just food for thought .SUNSHINE.

Looks like a Merc that ended up in a big truck...11"clutch.....If I needed a 4" crank and
that motor was nearby, 50 mi or less, I'd offer less then meet in the middle. That guy
knows scrap price is $15 if he delivers it to the yard.....been there. I just passed on an

8BA pass motor out of a big truck with useless truck trans w/ pto he wanted $800, I
offered $200.....at K&r Salvage Jennings Rd. , Lawtons , N.Y.

I bought a 8BA engine a couple years ago that had been laying in the back yard of a neighbor for many years. The engine was stuck so I and the neighbor figured it was junk, I took a gamble on the engine because it was complete and had a truck bellhousing on it, gave the guy a $100.
Turned out everything inside of the engine was good except for the pistons and valves. I sold the engine to a guy that wanted a good re-buildible engine. The man called me back in a few weeks, the crank cleaned up at 10/10, the bore cleaned up at .030...
Ya never know till you look more closely at parts.

Before buying, pull a main and rod cap to verify if its been ground too many times too. If he won't let you, walk.
