Lockdown Lowdown 3: Monday Machining: Lets make tools.
Ok, it was just an excuse to try some metric screwcutting on the lathe. Bizarrely I didn't film that but I did bust out the camera for the rest of the job. A pair of handles to help with flathead head removal. Just something to grab hold of, but with a provision for attaching a slide hammer. I did make one discovery that it isn't actually necessary to cut a metric thread to make a spark plug adaptor..
It's fun making something from nothing. Apologies for the smudge on the camera lens. If you watch in youtube you can click like and subscribe if you so desire. It helps visibility in the algorithms. Mart. https://youtu.be/TpYyqgBnXZQ Last edited by Mart; 04-27-2020 at 01:10 PM. |

Re: Lockdown Lowdown 3: Tuesday tinkerage. Lets make tools.
It's just been pointed out to me that it is actually Monday.
This lockdown is getting to me, I thought it was Tuesday. |

Mart - You were only off by one day. The way things are, I'd be happy if I got that close.
Actually, I'm very envious of you. There you are in your shop, puttering around, doing fun things. I am stuck 2200 miles from my shop. Oh, I have enough tools here to rebuild carburetors when I get bored. I finished the three I brought with me a month or so ago, but now I can't find any reasonably priced cores to rebuild. I did finally find a small base 2G on eBay that was less than $50 including shipping. When it got here, I eagerly opened it up to find a fresh rebuild. The carb body was even re-plated; the whole thing was beautifully done. Come to find out, someone was liquidating an estate and just wanted to get rid of stuff.
