remove and look at plugs-anyone of them different looking indicating a miss? clean and replace if this does not help then new plugs (autolite 216) would be the first change, then plug wires, cap, rotor. how long

1. Check the timing with a light. Put the pointer on the pulley dot. (stock specs)
2. Go through the tune up stuff.

I am not that knowledgeable on the vacuum only advance distributors, but will a vacuum leak or malfunction cause this type of issue? It would at the least cause the timing to be retarded.

This is a good point. If the vacuum canister on the LOM distributor has gone bad, it will not advance properly...or at all. Also the springs in the distributor on that end is worth a look.
The distributor may need a overhaul if the timing and tune up stuff does not help.
Then there's the fuel end but one thing at a time.

This was a timing issue. This was before I timed it with a light. It was advanced way too far.

I was going through the tune up stuff as this car would barely run. I did not realize how bad it was until I started to go through it.
Before I put it on the light, I tried to set it by ear with a Vacuum gauge. I put the distributor where the PO had it.

What I did not realize is how tinny it sounded. As I retarded it with a light, setting it to the correct position, the RPMs dropped, the sound changed from the tinny sound in the video do a deep steady rumble with no miss.

Here it is missing at idle.

Vacuum canister,if applied suction(brake bleeder pump use )the vacuum canister linkage moves but doesn't hold any pressure, this is faulty, correct!!

Yes, it should hold a vacuum.

While my similar problem was with the earlier distributor, My coil was quite hot as I had switched to 12 V with a bosch super coil and the spark was grounding to the rotor shaft right through the rotor. ONLY noticed the missing after warm and climbing hills in high gear at wide open throttle.... UNTIL the vehicle just stopped on the way home from lunch. Do the later distributors get the shorted rotor thing?

Check your distributor cap carefully. I had a miss on a '50 that dogged me for a long time. The cap looked good, but I couldn't see that the graphite "button" at the top was cracked and made intermittent contact.

I didn't see any thing about changing out the coil? This is the type of problem a bad coil will give you. Starts and runs fine until it gets hot.
