You can believe what you want, but from first hand experience I can tell you that Sea Foam works. In the 80's I bought a clean one owner Olds Cutlass real cheap because it sounded like it had a rod bearing out. I drove to the auto parts store and bought a can of Sea Foam and dumped it in the oil. Before I drove the 5 miles home the engine was as quiet as a new engine. It had a stuck hydraulic tappet.
I'll continue to be scammed because I know how much better my engines work with the right fuel.

As we pass reply no. 40, some may begin to realize that we live today among a majority of Americans who pushed a button ...... not once ..... but twice ....... to continue to use our hard earned coughed up April 15th money to pay interest on our forever increasing (19) Trillion American Credit Card ......... and furthermore ...... to push a button to request a guy to continue to ask farmers to screw up our Model A fuel with corn.

Now we see ourselves asking these same Americans how can MMO control the intentional harmful corn juice effects in our Model A tanks.

With such little scientific details thus far, Mr. Prawbly's reply no. 13 appears to be one (1) opinion that begins to make all of our other answers appear logical.

And to further complicate corn juice control ..... nobody was compassionate enough to try and give us a follow up field report on an ethanol controlling experience while using moth balls.

Does it look like we are slipping?

Sometimes I put cinnamon in my coffee as an additive to stabilize the taste. It's money I choose to spend because it works for my taste buds. Now if it's a scan from the Indonesia, where almost half of the world's cinnamon is produced, I cannot say for sure but I like it once and a while in my cup of joe. How one likes their cup is a matter of personal taste.

It's not really a fair comparison. Cinnamon does affect the taste of your coffee. You are getting a result for your dollar spent.

MMO and Sea Foam - if they did what they claim - would be required by every car manufacturer, and recommended by every competent machinist, and used in every race car.

They are not, because their claims are spurious and not demonstrable.

While I was never a believer in additives and tend to still feel the same, I've found over the decades that Sea-Foam works and it works well. So much so that I buy it by the gallon. If it didn't prove itself effective I wouldn't buy it. But, I don't or haven't yet had to use it in a Model A.

I had a valve sticking problem in my airplane even though I was using MMO in the auto fuel I was burning so a friend told me about the Aussies who were mixing 2 cycle oil additive in their aircraft at a 1 to 200 ratio.I did this and have flown the last year problem free.

Yep, I agree. Oil works fine for a such a problem. I just use ATF though.

After reading all this about MMO I now have two unresolved questions about my Model A. Can we get the first question about detergent vs non detergent oil resolved before addressing this problem. I am getting too old to be doing all this deep thinking about oil.

Some MMO opinions are based on long term past experiences.

Like why follow the advice of auto manufacturers who hire engineers and top notch metallurgists to carefully calculate the most expensive vehicle mechanical failure to occur exactly two (2) days after our vehicle manufacturer's warranty expires?

It is not always the sound of the stock market bells that make Wall Street is so popular.

It is written: One Day ..... There Will Be One Flock and One Shepherd.

Until then ...... every different Hobby Forum will continue to be filled with expressing very interesting different opposing opinions.

Let us have freedom of expression, respect others, and "never" become silent.

Debates among seniors are usually comical and interesting ....... especially if the shoulder pain senior readers and back ache senior listeners don't forget to take their pain medication.
