Default Power brakes

My 57 Fairlane 500 has power brakes. What are the 2 arms all about at the foot pedal? One is where the master cylinder arm hooks up the second one attached to the first with what looks like a pedal adjustment. Mine does not have a return spring on the system. My pedal is very close to the floor boards something doesn’t seem correct on this set up.

You have the 1957-1960 KELSEY-HAYES SWIFT-SURE PB System. The pedal assy is unique to that system as the booster is mounted inside the firewall.

Full description and DIAGNOSTIC SEQUENCE will be in your SHOP MANUAL.
