Default Ford's 315-A Standrive "Milk Delivery" body...

Ford's 315-A Standrive "Milk Delivery" body...

Ford assembled 900 AA-112 Drop Center Chassis (112" wheel base) in 1931 and 1932 for use with 453 315-A Standrive "Milk Delivery" bodies built by Ford.

That left 447 chassis used for Independent Body Building Companies...Does anyone know what some of these bodies might have been?

Thanks.

Pluck

That info is from the Model A/AA Ford Truck Owner by A.G. McMillan pg 90-92.
Looking at the wheels that is a 1929 chassis so not one of your 447.

Good catch Bob.

These advertised Drop Center chassis oviously were made by outside Independent Body Building sources (Detroit Dyko Drive Corp., and Step-N-Drive Truck Corp.) other than Ford by utilizing those left over 131-1/2" WB frames that were not utilized in 1929 AA usage by Ford.

According to the Assembly Record Types, Fords version did not start until July 1931.

On the other hand, Ford could of been using up the old stock of 1929 parts on these 447 chassis???

Hmmmmmm...Interesting.

This probably won't help you and in fact will probably give you more questions.

Here's some pictures I found a few years back of a long wheelbase Standrive.

It is interesting to note the linkages for the pedals, the front seat bracket, etc.....

That Standrive was found in western North Dakota by a friend of mine. He sold it to the gentleman in Bozeman MT.

I have seen stories of milk trucks with creeper gears where the driver would let it roll while dropping off bottles just like with horses. Did these do that?

That is a 4 speed truck tranny. So depending on the differential it probably would just creep along.

Divco milk delivery vans had a 4 or 6 cylinder Continental engine. Even into the 1960's most used ice to cool the milk. I recall the trail of dripping water they left as the driver made his rounds.
