Setting up LED Tail Lights
I picked up a pair of United Pacific LED Tail Lights at Sharon. Now I'm trying to hook them up and it appears since they are not duel filament they can not be set up as my old ones are in the attached picture. For the LEDs it appears I'm going to have to decide if the top are the tail lights or brake lights and buy a set of turn signal lights for the rear...correct?

Re: Setting up LED Tail Lights
The taillite is traditionally in the BOTTOM / red section while the Brake Light AND Turn Signal share the upper / amber lens section, using the SAME filament.
Your setup should work correctly with the brake / turn wire going to the top and the taillite wire to the bottom. |

The bulbs are 'festooned' together as a plug-in unit. Top and bottom. I'm thinking that maybe just halogen lamps might be better to retain the glass lens, and be very well illuminated...as far as $'s , it's about a wash. I run an alt. What I like is the LED brightness and these lens can be purchased as red over red or amber over red. That's a good thing. Mac's catalog. As for turn signals it's a separate issue altogether. I run only the original driver's side and no turn signals...but I'm really wanting a nice set of signals on the bumpers. skip. |
