Default Optima 6 volt battery

Does anyone on the Fordbarn know what is the difference between the two part numbers used for the Optima 6 volt battery? They are listed as 8010-044 and sometimes as 9010-044. The prices seem to be lower online for the 8010-044 battery. Are these two batteries different?

Larry, I'd say the 9010 listing is a misprint. Amazon listings are often messed up. The 8010, for instance, is listed on amazon as weighing 78.4 lbs. I'd go with amazon fulfilled items anyway, lower cost, and better warranty on everything.

I bought two 6 volt Optima this spring from Summit Racing. On their listing they had low price guarantee--I called their # and the fellow sold them to me for a dollar less than Amazon. I'd rather buy anywhere but Amazon--had some friends work there for the Christmas season and were treated like slaves. Rod

There are 2 different 6v batteries one is the redtop starter and the other is the yellowtop deep cycle battery.
Donīt now if that is what the different numbers refer to...

Both of the optima numbers appear to be 6 volt red top batteries as shown in photos. I also bought one from Summit which was the 9010-044 and the box has this number. After removing new battery from the box it is marked with the 8010-044 number on battery label.

For what it's worth, I got my Optima 6v red top from Summit at a decent price and delivery. Very happy with it. I had to make a bracket for it's odd shape but it sits under the floor pan anyway.

flatheadmurre, I have not ever seen a 6 volt yellow top (deep cycle) listed by Optima. Yellow tops only in 12 volt. There was talk of making them once and I did see a picture of one but never any for sale that I ever saw and I have handled hundreds of Optimas over the years. I have a 12 volt red top optima in my 1988 Toyota Hi-Lux ute which is nearly 17 years old. Regards, Kevin.

Our Jackson EFV8 RG president has a 6V yellow top Optima in his '39 ford. He's tried to document that his battery was sold w Optima, and Optima said they don't make a yellow top 6v battery. He figures that it must have been made for overseas.

A few years ago, I was told that there was a shortage of 6 volt Optimas, because the military was taking them all. I could see a yellow top in this type of application.

I have bought many Optima's from www.ProMotive.com where a 6V Optima battery costs $90.00 plus $2.00 processing fee for a total of $92.00 including free UPS shipping to a US street address (VISA, MC, etc) ($80 Shipping to Canada!!)(max order is 5 per year, but it seems like no one checks).

Though I have no relationship with Promotive.com (other than being a customer), it seems like an Optima battery ordered through Promotive is actually drop shipped directly from Optima.

Fordially,
