A friend is looking for a diagram of how the front backing plates should look for his '57 drop top. He thinks he has two right side backing plate assemblies.

Only thing I can think of is the adj. star wheel would be in wrong position compared to the adj. slot (reverse the adjuster). bet L & R are the same if they both fit

Both plates (L&R) are the same...

I did not know that. It explains a few things such as self-adjusters refit.

To further expound on the subject -

1954-56 FORD used L & R

1957-60 FORD used the same plate both sides

1961-64 FORD used L & R w Self-Adjusters Feature

I kept wondering why it was described as the adjuster being reversed on a SELF-ADJ SYSTEM being added ...
