Default Another gas gauge install question. Spinning as I tighten it

Hi All:

I went to snug up the gas gauge and the gauge itself is spinning as I try to snug up in the inner nut. I fooled with for about an hour and couldn't get it not to do that.

Any thoughts as to what I'm doing wrong or how to stop it from spinning?

Thanks,

Tim

Tim,

Are you using the proper tools to tighten it up?

You need two metal slip ring gaskets with a drop of oil between them. that will do the trick.

OK, thank you. I did not put oil or any type of sealer on the gaskets. I put them on dry.

I had the same problem, I kept adding the brass washers ( was up to 6-8 ) finely I added 2 extra washers in the housing before the assembly with the 2 normal washers. I feel the cork gaskets are thinner than original’s .
