Default Replacement Patch Panels

Are there any replacement patch panels being made these days for the cowl / door that can be used without any metal work? OR, like most things for the Model A have to be reworked to some extent.

There are great cowl panels for 30-31
The rest has to be tweaked from minor to major
Some are junk

Stipe makes panels.

I made my own as I found none of the repro panel at the time had the shape and details. The beads are just not close and the panels are flat. The problem is A panels are all compound curves. If you weld a flat panel into a compound curve there is no way to make it right once it is done as the flat panel is too short. (kind of a long metalworking explanation). So I found making panels from scratch to be not as hard as it seems. I was just using an arbor press and some simple tools to get decent results.

I have found the 30/31 cowl patch panels to be of good quality . I do not use the full panel . I cut the front part off on the return just ahead of the cowl band oval hole .It is an easy area to MIG weld and can be dressed and hardly any bondo needed .Typically unless the cowl is very poor the ahead area seldom suffers bad rot .The repair is much simpler as you are not splitting spot welds etc etc .

Folks tend to get things confused. People purchase a 'patch' panel ...and often even complain about the price of those type panels to make a "patch repair" on their vehicle. So for those desiring better quality panels, there are craftsmen that will make a complete repair panel to exacting details however with that level of quality that you receive also comes a price tag.
