Speedways new catalog=revolting
I just got a copy of Speedy Bills new street rod catalog in the mail. The picture of that poor ole '37 on the front page actually got my stomach churning.
Poor ole thing...slim |

Slim,
Each to his own. Speedy Bill is a neighbor of mine at Hershey and he's a guy who 'don't make many mistakes'. He prints that catalog for all the motorheads....whether their sparkplugs are on top or not. Charlie ny |

Someone copied my 37 to the max. I guess copying is the best form of flattery..

Re: Speedways new catalog=revolting
The paint job on the catalog picture would not be my first choice but I'd sure like to own the car.

It was a weak moment when I ordered '37 styled front fenders for my '36 roadster. |

Re: Speedways new catalog=revolting
The key words on the cover are STREET ROD. Get a Mac's catalog for stockers.

Yeah Shadetree, I can end the suffering you must experience every time you have to look at that "ugly duckling" '37 by coming there tomorrow and trailering it to my place. What are friends for anyway?

Re: Speedways new catalog=revolting
JM,
It is so ugly we have to sneak up on a gas pump to get a tank of gas. But I do appreciate the kind offer. Shadetree

Re: Speedways new catalog=revolting
Somebody said it right. "to each his own". I should keep my bad comments to myself. Somebody worked his butt of to make his 37 unique. No offense intended...slim

Re: Speedways new catalog=revolting
Slim,
Speaking for myself, there was no offense taken. Everyone has the right to speak his mind. If we all liked the same things it would be an awfully dull world. Tastes change too, when I was a kid I thought the `37 Fords, the 30's Willy's especially, the Hudson's, the Nash’s and the Studebakers were the ugliest cars made. Now look at them, they are beautiful! Different, but beautiful. Shadetree

Re: Speedways new catalog=revolting
Doesn't the old song go something like ".... If you want to be happy for the rest of your life, never make a pretty woman your wife ....."??
Man, I sure wish I had one of those ugly 37s! I'd consider selling my purtied-up '56 for one of 'em! NOT! But I'd sure take a '37 or '38 Ford anytime. I guess variety is indeed the spice in life. ron |

Re: Speedways new catalog=revolting
Some folks' choice of colors can be revolting to many but to each their own. Now when a funky looking paint job becomes popular with the masses, it makes you wonder where peoples heads are at but Oh Well!

Re: Speedways new catalog=revolting
Funny how 20 yrs ago they were ugly and not popular. I had one back in the 60's and thought it was UGLY. Now i find them "attractive". Funny how times change your outlook.

Re: Speedways new catalog=revolting
Sometime around 1960 I went to a farm auction with dad. For some reason he bought a 37 4dr original gray and decent for $35. and a black 2door slant back a little rougher for even less. Hired a friend to haul them home in a silage truck. We stored them inside but finally sold them for around $100 each. Never even thought enough of them to take pictures. The 4dr would probably be triple rouge today.

Re: Speedways new catalog=revolting
Boy, I was expecting the worst when I grabbed the catalog out of the mailbox! I know that car. It's nice! Although the printing of the cover didn't turn out too hot.
Better pics of the car... http://streetrodder.automotive.com/1...dan/index.html
