Thanks for the info/advice. What about between the Model A/early '32 and the later versions?

Model a rearends and early 32 s are good and hundreds of thousands of miles have been put on them . The weakness is the same for both of the driveshaft running thru pinion gear and fit ment on the axle shaft and hub. Lapping the surfaces axle hub using some clover lapping compound and bluing the surfaces to assure excellent surface contact.
I have a early 32 under my 1932 5w coupe and it has a warmed over Mercury. She has been on the road for 20 years and never a issue. I don't drop the clutch and ease out of the hole and then nail it

I have a 10 bolt early ford rear with a 201 Q.C. with the wide 5 after market finned alum. drums & hubs & I assume truck axles, have not gotten in to this thing to see how the hubs were adapted at this point. Just saying this was the roundy/round boys means to ward off those axle problems unless they got it backed into the wall.

That's reassuring. So if everything is in working order new gaskets and diff fluid and then adapt '40 brakes and good to go. Thanks.

Yes and was thinking about it my 32 roadster has a 40 rearend and it has a 283 Chevy power pack motor and 3 on the tree. It's a snotty motor and rearend has been great but I do respect it and don't abuse it off the line

I have a late '32 rear end available, if you're interested.
