main wood bow question 30 Cabriolet
Hi,
I bought the main wood top bow and it is in 5 pieces, two vertical sides that attach to the lower metal triple hinge, two short curved pieces and the long horizontal top piece. I have the metal brackets that screw into these to hold them, but do not know if the wood edges are supposed to be glued together or not first. If I glue them how will I know to get it to fit on the lower hinge correctly on both sides? Is there some article on this in one of the restorer books or somewhere else that you can point me in the right direction? Thanks,

Then make sure the spread between mounting points is correct. You can avoid gluing to the flat surface by putting plastic kitchen wrap under it If is sticks to the wrap it's an easy clean up. A few test runs by screwing together will help. Screw holes can be filled with glue mixed with sawdust Few words for a delicate procedure |
