Default 34 Ford Removing Cowl Lights then???

Im giving serious thought to removing the cowl lights on my 34 3W. If I was to do this I would like to fill the holes to stop water ingress etc. Has anyone that has done this come up with a discrete rubber plug or similar to fill the hole? Really dont want to weld them shut.

Why are you considering this? Is it that your '34 is a hot rod?

McMaster-Carr makes "push in panel plugs" in almost any size, they might work.

I fitted a stainless capped bumper bolt where my cowl lamp had been fitted.

Many folks on this site would welcome a glimpse of a hot rod. (in fact, I think I see more "modified" cars here than bone stock.) I feel that the Model A crowd is way narrower in their outlook. I even got away showing a corner of an orange engine.

@Mart thanks, thats an interesting alternative, appreciate it.

@PeteVS thanks for your interest. I always try and respect the forums Im on but seeing as you asked will post just one small pic. It finally arrived in Japan 5 months after buying it and was owned in Maryland prior. 70s build that languished under a tarp for 20yrs before being saved some time ago. Rather than clutter up here with a hotrod I have a thread on the HAMB if others are interested.

One bloke’s opinion:
Why remove the cowl lights? I have always (since high school) thought cowl lights are one of the cool details on cars of this era. Hot rod or not, cowl lights look good in my opinion. Wish they were available on my ‘37 hot rod.

What JayChicago said above - They Look "cool" and can be made functional as turn signals...

The car is actually surprisingly solid by the looks of things. As someone else pointed out that bog was probably put in to make up for the lack of crown in the insert. Ive smothered the car in Gibbs as of now and will try what I can but am not sure that roof will pass through the initial tech inspection here. The rest of the paint is faking off though, just sitting in the garage. Looks a bit like dandruff

I have turn signal inserts for the cowl lights but they may be a bit high and far back for inspection here even though I can get the car licenced without. I know that sounds odd but having lived here 7 years the mentality will be if they are fitted they will have to be within a certain set of specs...
