Ray, are you starting with any spacers/shims under radiator? When you start with the hood tops are the gaps off? If that is OK try one side panel at at time.

If at that point the hood top gaps good & side panels good you can start with the fenders.

Send me some pics if you have some showing gaps. [email protected]

Thanks Bob, The radiator has the pads. I have the fenders already bolted on. I'll try loosening them' or unbolt them.

Ray, my cell is 417-861-7988

Separate the hood tops from sides first. Easy way to remove sides is spray rods with WD-40 or equal then spin the rods using your drill, that will spin off rust on rods while removing.

Easiest is one top at a time, then look from behind door to check if body line/ hood line look correct. If off you may have to lower radiator.

Give me a call if you want, Bob

The drill worked great! I am very close to having everything line up. To bad I have to take it apart , but at least I'm not struggling with fresh painted parts.

I'm curious where are the rods you are talking about? 37s have one piece hoods and the side panels slip out with removal of a couple of screws.

Ray, another tip once hood fitment is good is to use rubber hood cushions fitted to underside of hood tops (glue on). That will hold hood top up to match cowl & align body line to hood line, you can grind/razor blade the rubbers to lower hood top.

Some general alignment guidelines that seem to work.

First, everything loose. Then everything finger tight, then everything tight. If you tighten anything too soon and it is slightly off then you can get a cascading misalignment issue.

Start with the body, hood, and grille/radiator. Moving the grille/radiator up or down (or the body) affects the angle of the gaps of the hood. If your body to frame blocks or frame is not right that could affect the hood alignment.

Then fit the fenders to the grille, body, and frame.

Now the inner fenders.

Last fit fender brackets.

Go to www.wescottsauto.com > "tech" > "how to align a body to frame" for more detailed, yet general, information.

I hope this helps.

Karl
