Dunno what they did and/or added to it, as little as possible would be my guess.

A used car dealer who was a product of the Depression era heated used oil and ran it through an old cream separator before putting it back in the car. Now that’s an oil change! The used car dealer was my grandfather...

You might need to explain to the young-uns what a cream separator is.

We're taking a side track here but my 8 year old grandson asked what these things are on the door. He was pointing to a window winder handle in the back of my car. Our explanation and demonstration had him rolling about with laughter. An education to both he and us.

You might explain why and oil change is done to the young-uns. And not at every 100,000 thousand miles.

Never mind an 8 year old. I had my car at a show and the parents and the 2 sons 14 and 16 went crazy over the 1960 sports car. I asked the kids if they would like to sit in the car, they both did, with the parents taking pictures.

When they got out the 16 year old said what is that as he was pointing. I said what is what, and he went over and touched the window crank.

Think about it. Here is a 16 year old kid that grew up with his parent car, and friends parents always having electric windows and door locks. I was shocked, and up untill that day never gave it a thought.

I recall years ago there was a late winter garbageman strike and people would wrap their trash to look like Christmas gifts and leave them in their unlocked vehicles. Now I know how to deal with my old oil, thanks... Chap
