1930 Deluxe Roadster For Sale
City:
Brownsboro
State:
Alabama
Price:
15000 OBO
Offered for sale is a 1930 Model A Ford Deluxe Roadster in Brewster green with Apple green wheels. Complete and solid car with its original subrails, not a rusty car full of patch panels and bondo. Unlike the typical Model A offered for sale these days, this car is a real Deluxe Roadster with most all of the parts that Ford installed in 1930, not a collection of junk from flea markets that was pieced together into a car.
Paint: The paint is an older lacquer job and shows its age but still looks reasonably presentable. It's thin in places and has plenty of nicks and scuffs, and it really needs a good polishing because it's pretty dull all over. If you're one of those people who can't get past the fact that it's not fresh and shiny then this car probably isn't for you, but if you're a guy that can appreciate that "real car" patina then this car is as good as you'll find. This is a real car that's been driven and enjoyed, not a trailer queen, and it looks the part. Body: The body is very solid and still has the original subrails which is almost unheard of these days. The center crossmember is stamped "CE 3748" which indicates that the body was assembled at the Charlotte, NC assembly plant, so the car has most likely been in the south it's entire life. No obvious signs of the typical patch panels in the cowl or quarters but I haven't pulled back the interior panels to double check. Having said that, as old as the paint is and given the fact that its lacquer, I'd imagine poorly installed patch panels would be very easy to spot by now. The body could probably stand to be re-shimmed and the door hinges rebuilt because the doors drag a little bit when closed, but that's pretty typical. The front fenders are very nice and the beads are good other than one or two minor places on the driver side fender. The rear fenders are fair as can be seen in the photos. Interior: The interior is older just like the paint and it shows some use but overall it's presentable. There are no rips or tears and the worst thing I've noted is that the driver side of the seat sags a little. The top is complete and intact but has wrinkles from having been left down for the last several years and also has a fair amount of water staining as seen in the photos. Again, if patina is your thing then look no further! Mechanicals: The engine number is A3119465 which indicates an assembly date in early April 1930 so there's a very good chance this is the original engine that the car was born with. It runs extremely well and has no abnormal noises. The transmission and rear axle are both in excellent condition as well and it drives like a good running Model A should drive. Within the last 100 miles I've also installed kingpins, gone through the steering box, installed a new pedal shaft and pedal bushings, adjusted the brakes and rebuilt the generator. The brakes are good, probably better than 90% of the Model A's on the market today but it does have original brake drums and could probably benefit from a set of new cast iron drums in the future. The tires are older but still have good tread and show no signs of dry rot. The wheels all seem to be good and straight as well because the car will track down the highway at 55 mph with one hand on the wheel. As it sits right now though, it's an extremely good running car that you can get in and start driving right away without any major work needed. The biggest thing it might possibly need right now is an oil change, and I'll make sure that's done before it sells. Photos of the car can be viewed here: https://postimg.org/gallery/2vj1r9lrk/ A short video of the engine running can be viewed here: https://youtu.be/Bz77BS-sGck Asking $15,000 or best offer. If you're interested, shoot me a PM and I will give you my email address and phone number. Last edited by dlshady; 04-26-2018 at 11:27 AM. |

Re: 1930 Deluxe Roadster For Sale
Photo links fixed now, so the pics should be back up. Somebody needs to buy this car before the hot rodders buy it and hack it to pieces.
