Default LH park brake handle repair

The spring is either broken or missing from the park brake handle on our "new" '28 coupe. I have to move the squeeze handle manually in order for it to latch in place. I believe someone has had it apart before because the two parts are together with a bolt and nut instead of a rivet. I have not found a listing in the vendors catalogs for a spring. When I take it apart maybe I can find something at the hardware store?
