I have a set of Grey-rock brake linings for 35-38.

Set #BB642D
4 molded and 4 woven linings

Instructions states for 35 & 36 use 1 molded and 1 woven on each brake assy.
It also tells what shoe gets which lining.

Does this installation still hold true ???

Well, the longer shoe would go toward the front. Never heard of mixed shoe material, but not much experience with the original brakes.

First I would like to say the original post gave a part number for the brake shoes and that number is NOT a Ford number but the aftermarket suppliers part number.

Secondly as an old timer in the hobby I was told by old time mechanics before WWII that mechanical brakes required a woven lining and hydraulic breaks used a molded lining as the pressure on the shoe with hydraulic brakes exceeded the pressure on the shoe with mechanical brakes.

Thirdly perhaps 30 years or so ago many in the hobby experimented with the use of one woven and one molded lining on each wheel and they felt it was an improvement for mechanical brakes. It was a popular theme for a while then died out. Personally I never made a change so have no personal experience. It did have many "believers" however.

Every drum I have ever pulled has had both shoes with
molded linings of the same length.
All the linings in this box are the same length.

Was trying to find out if anyone here had any experience
with combination linings vs. all molded ones.

Your set is the premium set. The cheaper sets had all molded linings

generally speaking, the woven linings are for the mechanical brakes, the hard linings for hydraulics. yours have one of each, which i have never seen or heard of, but as the poster above said it was a trend for a while. so, since you have them, i would use them!

It´s about primary/secondary shoe having more/less pressure....one gets added power from the rotation.
Usually you have one long and one shorter...and they wear out in the same amount of time...using a softer material instead of a shorter was for adding friction while they wear out in the same amount of time.
