Just curious, what makes it a 1941 coil? The brown top?

In 1941, it fit only the 6 cylinder Ford, but that is why it carries a 1941 basic part number. It was used on V8's 1942-48 and on sixes til about '46 or 7.

Ford numbers had to get more complicated after the days of the A prefix on everything...1GA-12024 = 1 for 1941, G for early six cylinder family, and A for the first design intent, passenger car models. Once a part was numbered, the prefix stayed the same for all uses. The root numbers remained the same as Model A, and I believe still are so.

Okay a little spark just went off in my head as I looked through some parts and most lined up. Very cool. Thank you.

Still not sure though, after looking at a bad 42 coil i have with no numbers, to tell the exact year...
