fuel line in too far
I finally figured out what some of you meant by saying “Fuel line could be pushed in too far” which could cause fuel blockage. I received my new fuel line yesterday and realized that it would be pretty easy to shove that metal line too far beyond the ferrule and block or restrict fuel. Since I couldn’t be sure how far that line was pushed into the carb, I marked the bottom of the line where the fitting should be when screwed in. That still didn’t guarantee the the line wouldn’t go in too far. So, I put the line in a vice a tapped a thin punch into the end. By spreading the line and locking the ferrule in place at the end of the line I don’t have to worry about any blockage. It worked great and no leakage.
Just thought I’d share and maybe save someone from having a problem later on. Mike |

Re: fuel line in too far
When installing a new fuel line another trick to prevent the end of the fuel line from going in to far is to remove the filter screen and temporarily replace it with a 1/2-20 bolt. The bolt is larger than the filter screen and the end of the fuel line will be held in the proper position against it when the ferrule is set.

Re: fuel line in too far
Minervas' carb had a screen filter in the carb & line was shoved in against the soldered seam, on the filter. IF it hadn't have been on the seam, it "might" have gone un-noticed???
Lots of folks don't even know that filter's in there! CAUTION: NEVER use a MICRO-FILTER in there, it will plug up with the otherwise harmless "RUST DUST"---When you drop the bowl off & see "RUST DUST", DON'T git EXCITED, it's fairly HARMLESS & jist sucks on through the jets!---I don't "think" it would even plug up the idle jet. Chuck had a semi-floating FISH, in his GLASS sediment bowl!---He sed, "It's a bottom feeder & EATS the RUST FLAKES"---LOL--You'd like Chuck, he's my other adopted "SON"-- Bill BeenwatchingNASCAR
