We are restoring a 1930 Cabriolet. I have seen photos of the three kick panels in the rumble seat area. The two side panels appear to be self explanatory but I don't see where the kick panel between the rumble seat and the front seat is to be attached? Do both side of this panel get upholstery? Thanks

The front panel gets tacked to the wood strips that the front backrest spring rests against.

I assume you are referring to a fixed front seat, our car has a screw type adjustable seat. Does that also mean that the picture I have of the side rumble seat kick panels are also incorrect for our car?

Our 30 Sport Coupe (sadly long since sold

) had the screw adjuster and the panel was attached to the seat as described in the posts above - the panel was upholstered only on the side facing the rumble and moved with the seat. There was a piece of seat upholstery cloth attached to the upper edge of the backrest and to the package shelf - it spanned the gap all the way across the car. It was fully extended when the seat was all the way forward and folded and fell into the gap as the seat was adjusted backward. Dunno if Cabriolet is the same.

Here's another one that took some head scratchin' to figure out. The side panels are not flat when mounted - the space between them is wider in the foot well than it is at the seat cushions. That requires bending them into a sort of "S" shape as you look at them from above - they should be flexed but not creased or broken.

My July 1930 coupe has an adjustable front seat. It still has the original upholstery in it. The rumble seat side panels slip along the side of the front seat and is held in place by, it think, 3 screws and countersunk washers.

Thanks for the photos. The only place we could see to mount the front kick panel was to the back of the front seat but some reason it didn't seem like that would be correct?
When we found the photo of the side panels, we were surprised to see that the front edge matched the angle of the front seat. We thought the side panels would start at the vertical door post and go all the way back to the rumble seat hinge post. Do you know about how far the side panels go past the front panel. Is there very much clearance between the ends of the front panel and the sides?
