My temperature saga is done, see other post about ambient air temp,(much thanx to Barners who helped) and my center main KNOCK is resolved also.(I checked my check list and missed my re-torque to 90 ft lbs.). I had asked the forum about air temp and machining practices which were answered. Also I thought I had a main bearing problem which was an oversight in procedure on my part. My '29 Tudor purrs down the roadway at a pleasant 45-50 mph with no bad vibration, enough oomph for me and a pleasant 17 mpg. this is after 739 mile of driving and some head re -torques two actually, and really that's it. No shims, Babbitt looks good, thanx to Purty, T-Bird and others I'm good to go for the time being, but aint that short. Thanx to all. Don't be fearful to work on your car if you have the resolve. They are good four strokes and run really good. Some basic knowledge and patience and you'll have a good A. This IS the site if you own a Model A.
