i have them send me payment by western union or moneygam, they have to give either of those cash before they will wire the money to you, and western union will give you cash at the location where you said to send the money

A few years back here in upstate N.Y. the FED's moved in on a guy passing phony printed bank checks. Let say the car was $50,000.00 the buyer put down $10,000.00 cash. [In your hands] said will pickup car tomorrow with a bank check for $40,00.00,,,, PHONY bank check and took off with the car for $10,000. cash. Then they would sell the car for $30,000.00 making $20,000. The FED's setup a sting and caught the guy after 15 cars ..

I got an email from a Fordbarner awhile back on a car I was trying to sell that made me wonder if it was legitimate. I checked on the buyer and although he has a low posting count, he appears to be OK, but it would have been better if he had asked a few questions pertinent to the car. I don't know if I should consider the offer. Whaddaya think?

"I'd like your car, would you take $XX00 cash and $X00 a month for 3 months, and hold until spring. Thanks"

That was the total message.

I admit I know very little about banking.
but if his bank truly "cleared" the check, seems like it should be the bank's problem when it "turned out phony", not the customer's.
so in actual practice the bank did not really clear the check completely.
in my view, the bank has some liability here: should have told him to wait a bit longer before releasing the bike.
any bankers on the board who can clarify these perplexing concepts for us??

Not a banker but when you endorse a check it means you are guaranteeing it. That's why the bank can come back to you. Banks don't leave loose ends out there.

The Bank Allways wins its the little guy who takes the fall !!!

A lot of these Scams come from Nigeria ,
Had one a few months ago who wanted to buy our house I googled his name and it said he was the President of an African Country !!! Also was a bit Pigeon English he was using. Why should he want our place cash deal don't have to see it!!!????

The thing that tickles me is that a lot of well meaning charities collect money for african school children to buy computers. OK so they are a Whizzz on the computer
but got no money and nothing to sell so what do they do ??? SCAM

We 're creating our own monster here . It's like sending all the jobs to China .
They don't need computers when they have no clean water or sanitation, send them tractors and dig them wells.
