Default Rear end

i have a 1956 Ford with a stock rear end that is shot. I have a good 1957 Ford rear end. Will it bolt in the 56. Also will the 56 backing plates and drums fit the 57 Ford rear end as they are new. Thanks Bill

If the spring perches are the same distance apart it will fit. I have a 9 inch in my 56 SD and it bolted right in.

I also have a '55 Courier sedan delivery with a 57 rear end. It was a direct bolt in with no modifications. I didn't bother attempting to swap brake drums as the 57 rear end was complete with stock brake drums, so I just used them.

I have a 57 rear in my 54 - as they mentioned above, it was a bolt in. Used bigger brakes (later Tbird/truck). The 54 parking brakes cables fit perfect.
