Default Adjusting Shocks....

Have owned my late 1931 Slant Windshield 4 Door since 1988 but my first post here! Back in 1988 I bought a set of repro shock absorbers that use regular 30 weight oil. Recently I have taken the A out of storage and on a short drive down a wavy country road noticed how the body did the Rock and Roll the whole time so I assume the shocks either no longer work or are way out of adjustment. I plan to take off the links, manually move the arms back and forth, then adjust until I can barely move the arms manually. Since this is a very heavy Model A I figure my strength moving the arms manually is nothing compared to the movement of a car this heavy. Has anyone done it this way and will my plan adjust the shocks too stiff? Thanks......Michael
